Methodist Church in Fiji gives thanks for US Methodist fellowship:
"The Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma cherishes the fellowship and service of the United Methodist Church of USA," said Rev. Tevita N. Banivanua, General Secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji.
He made the comments in offering words of appreciation and farewell to a mission team from Wesley United Methodist Church in San Jose, California who were hosted to a morning tea at the Church's head office to show their gratitude, for the freely offered service provided by the team. For just over a week the team organised a medical clinic for over 300 people from Navuniyalo, Lutu and Nukuloa villages in Naitasiri. They also held bible school programmes for children and evening education sessions for adults on nutrition and other important health issues. This is the 4th year that the Wesley UMC team has visited Fiji. Previously they have organised dental clinics and donated computers for primary schools.According to Virisila Batiratu, Fiji Mission Coordinator for the California-Nevada Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church (USA), the Wesley team follows a visit by another mission team from Palo Alto, California. Later this month another team will be visiting for volunteer work at Navuso.
