Holy Week Pilgramage to Focus on Immigrant Detention Centers

March 06, 2020

by Michael Yoshii

The California-Nevada Conference Committee on Advocacy & Justice is co-sponsoring a Holy Week Pilgrimage for Liberation to focus on Immigrant Detention Centers in California, and the role of for-profit corporations that run these centers. The pilgrimage will travel from the Bay Area, through the Central Valley to the Inland Empire, holding rituals and interfaith prayer vigils at places of detention and incarceration.

As we enter into the season of Lent and remember the journey of Jesus to the cross, we encourage our congregations to bear witness to migrants and families who are bearing their own crosses inside the detention centers.

While participation in the actual pilgrimage is encouraged, it may not be possible for many of your schedules. But other ways of support and participation are planned. The pilgrimage is being organized by the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, (IM4HI). Attached are the details of the pilgrimage.
