Divisive and heated rhetoric dominate the public dialogue. More and more people are withdrawing from engagement in the political process out of a growing sense of cynicism and mistrust.
Join us for a time of worship as we pray for justice and healing in our country and celebrate those who have paved the way for all of us to vote while also acknowledging the harm and sinfulness of our systems.
We keep in mind the words of President Abraham Lincoln who said in his second inaugural address: "With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan—to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations."
