The Western Jurisdiction (WJ) Fresh United Methodism Summit opens this afternoon at Rolling Hills UMC in Southern California, and key portions of it will be live streamed.
Tune in at 4 p.m. at http://westernjurisdictionumc.org/wj-events/fresh/ for opening worship. There will be a dinner break following, during which some table discussion will take place. Streaming will resume at 6:30 p.m. with reports from the jurisdiction work groups that were formed after the 2019 General Conference, and reports from each of the seven conferences in the jurisdiction.
California-Nevada leadership attending the summit includes Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño; Director of Connectional Ministries Rev. Jorge Domingues; Core Team Chairperson Rev. Kathi McShane; the head of the 2020 General Conference delegation, Conference Lay Leader Micheal Pope; and the delegation's first-elected clergy member, Rev. Jeffrey Kuan, along with the other members of the delegation. Eleven (11) observers from Cal-Nevada who will be in attendance will be able to participate in discussions.
As the WJ website explains, attendees will be "listening for areas of alignment and opportunity so that the jurisdiction can collaborate for broader impact." The summit then will focus on "a process of envisioning and innovation around the next steps" for the jurisdiction and The United Methodist Church.
