Watch Video of Katherine Parker, Missionary to Nepal: Visiting Cal-Nev May-June
April 24, 2019
Katherine Parker, a water micro-biologist serving as a United Methodist missionary in Nepal, will be visiting churches in her home conference, California-Nevada, in May and June. A few weeks ago, Cate Monaghan, the conference's interim communications director, sat down with Katherine for a visit. Watch their conversation here (includes information about when Katherine will be in specific areas and to learn how to arrange a visit.
Katherine was commissioned in 2008 and served in Cambodia before being sent to Nepal, where she has now served for six years. Her home church is Mill Valley’s Mt. Tamalpais UMC.
Visits can be arranged through Howard Parker, the Conference Secretary of Global Ministries, at email@example.com, who observes, “A crowd is not required for a missionary visit. A handful or fewer is fine.” He observes, “Our missionaries return home – sometimes from great distances like Nepal -- to restore their connection with those who have sent them. Graciously receiving their thanks and hearing about their witness is emotionally and spiritually revitalizing for them. For us, hearing from someone as articulate and engaging as Katherine can be an uplifting reminder of how our United Methodist discipleship is truly at work in transformation of the world.”
