Loaves and Fishes requests donations to help provide a Thanksgiving meal to 1,000 homeless and hungry guests on Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. Food donations are needed by tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 22). Visit https://sacloaves.org/holiday/thanksgiving for a detailed list of needs, along with drop-off times and location. Monetary donations may be made by mail or online.
John McCormack, a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Sacramento, reports that new or used sleeping bags are needed, also, for homeless persons in the area.
“While there is no rain yet, some shelters are set to open later than usual,” he writes, “so more persons may be on the street into the colder months.
“Donations can be dropped off at St. Marks UMC or the Mercy Pedalers' headquarters office, 1919 21st Street, Suite 204, Sacramento.”
Mercy Pedalers, founded by Sisters of Mercy nun, Sr. Libby Fernandez, in 2017, is a ministry on wheels to the homeless in the Sacramento community.
