Road Scholar Civil Rights Tour

March 13, 2020

By Heather Leslie Hammer

Experience the Civil Rights Movement with other United Methodists on a Road Scholar (formerly Elderhostel) tour November 1-8, 2020.

Sponsored by the Retired Clergy Association (RCA), a group of approximately 30 will meet in Atlanta, travel by coach to Montgomery, Selma, and Birmingham, returning to Atlanta. We will stay in 3 hotels at the rate of $1999 (double occupancy) or $2599 (single occupancy) for the 8 days, 17 meals, lectures, and admissions included.

Individuals may register by calling 833-810-6427. Ask for Program #22657PCR, starting November 1. See the brochure. Active and retired clergy and spouses, as well congregational members and friends (age 18 +) are encouraged to enroll. If we get 30 by April 24, we can have a private group. Otherwise it will be a shared group.

The cancelation policy is generous in the event of problems due to the coronavirus. Travel insurance provided by Road Scholar is recommended. What better way to walk in the footsteps of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. than study and learn with other church folks.
