The Commission on the Annual Conference Session has begun its work of preparation for the 2019 session, with the Rev. Gary Pope-Sears (left) taking the helm as new commission chair.
At the group’s fall meeting this week, Pope-Sears facilitated a discussion about the feedback concerning this year’s ACS that was gathered through the Evaluations form, and leaders responsible for the various components of the session offered their reflections – along with early ideas for refinements.
The 2019 session is scheduled for June 18-22, again at the DoubleTree Hotel in Modesto. It will be especially significant since it will follow the special session of General Conference called for Feb. 23-26, 2019, in St. Louis – and will precede the regular meeting of General Conference in 2020. Delegates to the 2020 General Conference will be elected at the 2019 ACS.
The Conference Communications Office will provide focused reporting on matters relevant to ACS and General Conference as we move forward toward those events.
We begin with a message from the Rev. Anne Schlesinger, whose responsibility at ACS is Pages and Marshals.
A reminder regarding the upcoming special session of General Conference: California-Nevada United Methodists are encouraged to continue engaging in intentional prayer for The United Methodist Church and its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World – even though the Conference’s designated week to participate in Praying Our Way Forward has passed.
