Crystal Springs UMC celebrates 61 years of service

December 03, 2020

Crystal Springs UMC celebrated its 61st anniversary in a special service that included California-Nevada Lay Leader Micheal Pope.

Remembering the day, Pastor Katai'i Tapa shared, "My heart is filled with so much thankfulness to God, due to the humble and warm presence of Micheal who led us on our 61 Anniversary and Thanksgiving Sunday. Her presence brought the love, care and connection with the Bishop and our Conference to Crystal Springs UMC. Thanks be to God!!!"

The service opened with a special consecration of a brand new set of handbells. In August of this year Crystal Springs experienced a break in and the church's handbells were among items taken. Pastor Katai'i said, "The people's hearts spring again with joy and thankfulness that they can praise God with their bells again."

The anniversary celebration concluded with a drive through coffee hour, distribution of Advent candles for members to use in preparation of virtual Advent services and receiving of a $61 donation from each family in memory of loved ones.

"I thank you for the opportunity to share the 61st Anniversary of Crystal Spring UMC," said Pastor Katai'i, "I pray that God will bless us with more than 61 years to serve Him as His servants."
