Davis UMC Hosts Los Rios District Wide Revival

February 06, 2020

On Saturday, February 1, pastors and laity of Los Rios District came together at Davis UMC in an annual time of revival set aside solely for inspiration and empowerment. Drawing on the theme of General Conference 2020 “Know That I am God”, the day-long event included worship and leadership development.

Cathy Love attended the Revival and shared, "Talk about Spirit-filled! Not just in the preaching and prayers, not just through the speakers and breakout sessions, but across so many of today's conversations. The message was clear and consistent: we can build each other up. We can't rest in 'the way it's always been'.  When we reach anew into an authentic, grace-filled community and let our armor down, something bigger can touch us. It was in the air at this revival, palpable, and it rocked me to the core."

Rev. Kevin Dotts of Antioch UMC and Rev Quentisha Davis Wiles of Pittsburg UMC brought powerful messages undergirded with scripture that grounded faith and lifted hope.

A series of ‘prayer-shops’ offered continuing leadership development opportunities for Revival attendees and included Knowing God through Generous Giving, led by Rosa Washington of Davis UMC: Knowing God Through Social Justice Ministry, led by Rev. Matt Pearson of Elk Grove UMC; Knowing God through Building Authentic Christian Community, led by District Superintendent Schuyler Rhodes; and Knowing God through Creation Justice, led by retired Pastor, Rev. Sharon Delgado.
