Local UM Churches Hosting Virtual Vacation Bible School Welcome Participation

July 02, 2020

Local United Methodist churches across the California Nevada Annual conference are opening virtual doors to children who are interested in attending Summer Vacation Bible School online. Some programs are free, some provide scholarships and others charge a minimal fee. All the virtual VBS programs offered have openings for children regardless of where they live or what church they attend.

Some VBS programs occur on specific dates and times while other programs can be viewed at any time. Families can choose between programs based on viewing options or themes. If families want access to materials such as paper handouts and activities supplies, they may need to ask churches for items to be shipped or drive to the host church to pick them up. Four different programs are described in chronological order below with dates and registration links.

If your church is having VBS and it is open to children of the CNUMC, please add the information to the comment section or submit your information to Selby Ewing at selbye@calnevumc.org.

The Sacramento Pentecost Circuit will host a virtual VBS by Go1 Curriculum entitled, “Bolt! Towards Faith in Jesus” with two options: participate on specific dates with Zoom parties following; or, choose any 3 dates and do it whenever you can. For ages 5 and up. The cost is $25 but scholarships are available.

Each day contains 25-minute video guiding families through a series of themed activities over a 90-minute period. Children get to watch children modeling activities before trying it out themselves. The upbeat Christ-centered lessons include the Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:4-15),  Jesus Walks on Water (Matthew 14:22-36), and Jesus Choose His Disciples (Luke 5). The program features music by Ben Calhoun from the Christian band, Citizen Way.
