On May 5 El Camino Real District launched a fundraiser for undocumented families whose income sources evaporated as a result of the pandemic in what would become known as the COVID-19 Project.
A hard working team was assembled with an original goal of raising $50,000 and offering an average of $400 per family to 117 families.
The team met that goal weeks later and began distributing the money on May 28th.
Since then, the donations continue to come in. As of June 25th, the district reported total donations received exceeding 101,000. .
As a result of this generous outpouring, the district Covid-19 Relief Team was able to send a second round of assistance to the same families on June 17th. Families receiving support were extremely thankful and have been able to cover their basic needs.
Funds continue to come in to support undocumented families in El Camino Real, a true sign of our connection as a faith family that values the needs of all, most especially our most vulnerable members.
