Join El Sobrante United Methodist Church for an evening of “wonderful Russian music” on Wednesday of next week – Feb. 13, 2019, at 7:30 p.m., at the church.
The Konevets Quartet is an all-male a cappella vocal quartet from St. Petersburg, Russia. Their program includes a mixture of Russian sacred, medieval, folk, and regimental music in the rich tradition of Russian choral music and the male chamber choir. Part of the Quartet’s revenue aids the continuous restoration of the Monastery of the Holy Nativity of the Mother of God, located 160 kilometers northeast of St. Petersburg, on Lake Ladoga. The monastery suffered catastrophic damage during the Soviet era.
El Sobrante UMC has hosted an annual concert by the Konevets Quartet for several years and continues to be blessed and enriched by sharing with them, according to church Music Director Eileen Johnson.
“During this time of immigration concerns, trade debates, and continued violence in the Middle East, it is more important than ever to find ways to build bridges with our international neighbors,” she says, adding, “Don’t miss this opportunity to meet our Russian friends, the Konevets Quartet!”
Tickets will be $15 at the door.
El Sobrante UMC is located at 670 Appian Way, El Sobrante CA 94803.
