Deadline to Apply for Ecumenical Grants Is Less Than Three Weeks Away

September 27, 2018

There is still time – but not a lot of it! – to apply for an Ecumenical Grant of up to $2000 from The Advocacy and Justice Committee of the California-Nevada Annual Conference.  The committee has a small budget available to support ecumenical and interfaith social justice advocacy initiatives that meet the following criteria:

  1. Such organizations must include meaningful participation by one or more United Methodist churches, committees, or task forces as well as other faith communities.
  2. The project for which funding is sought must entail advocacy for social change.
  3. The issues and positions for which they advocate must be consistent with the United Methodist Social Principles. In general, this means they must fall into one or more of the following categories:
  • Environmental sustainability and justice
  • Individual liberty, justice, and dignity
  • Social justice, including equality and nondiscrimination
  • Economic justice
  • Peace and nonviolence
Ecumenical Grants are intended as seed money to help support new projects or initiatives; they may not be used for recurrent operating expenses. They also may not be used for salaries or stipends.
Applications must be received by October 15, 2018.
