Conference and Jurisdiction Positions Open

There are two position openings at the conference and jurisdiction levels.
The California-Nevada Conference is seeking to fill the director of communications position, while the Western Jurisdiction Mission Cabinet is seeking to fill a new position, project manager/organizer.
According to the position overview for the director of communications position, the successful applicant will be responsible for:

Leading the California-Nevada Conference of The United Methodist Church in communicating its Gospel message of healing, hope, and transformation to the communities it is called to serve and to the world;

Strengthening and undergirding the vital connections among its local churches, districts, retreat and camp ministries, campus ministries, organizations, and its programmatic, administrative, and financial agencies through effective, transparent, and pro-active communications;

Growing the missional connection between the conference and the jurisdictions, central conferences, and general agencies of The UMC through a variety of communications portals;

Developing a web of communications with ecumenical and interfaith partners in ministry that will strengthen the conference’s relationships with these entities as well as its common witness efforts; 

Providing timely communications to the bishop, conference leaders, and congregations about church and world issues that affect the work of the conference in the church and in the world; and 

Assisting the bishop or others she/he designates in crisis communication when necessary.

According to the position overview for the WJ project manager/organizer job:

The Western Jurisdiction is actively engaged in a process to identify ways forward related to our missional commitment to celebrate diversity. This position will provide appropriate support and assistance to the annual conferences, the mission cabinet, WJ leadership team, and grassroots movements within the jurisdiction as they determine how best to embody a wholistic, inclusive expression of United Methodism that reflects the wide diversity found within the West, so that we can best strengthen our evangelical witness in the 21st century.

The project manager/organizer position is a part-time (20 hours per week), 11-month contracted position under the supervision of the WJ Mission Cabinet Executive Team: The College of Bishops president, the lead director of connectional ministries (DCM), and the WJ leadership team chair.
