Executive Director of Finance and Administration, CA-NV Annual Conference
Did you know our churches calculate their own tithe amount each month, based on that month’s church income? Churches send their tithe checks to the conference office within the first two weeks of the following month. Apportionment statements are printed and mailed to every church on the 15th of the following month.
You can find a current list of tithes by church every month at www.cnumc.org/financeadministration.
Church tithe giving has increased every year from 2015 through 2018. In 2019, total church tithing is up slightly from June 2018 levels. Fifty-one churches have tithed more than double the amount they had tithed through June of last year, and a significant number of churches (141) have increased their tithe giving by more than 5% over last year’s June total.
Both the Bay District and the Central Valley District have increased in total tithe income from last year to-date.
Our annual conference’s giving to general advance specials is above last year’s levels, too – $111,481 compared to $100,111. Our annual conference is consistently one of the highest in its giving to general advance specials.
Our conference’s own disaster relief fund has received donations of $71,397 this year so far, compared to $20,601 through last June. Our disaster relief coordinator continues to work with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and our own case management workers to address the needs of those displaced by fires.
