The California Endowment's Board of Directors this week elected new leadership, naming Shawn Ginwright, PhD, as board chair for the private, statewide health foundation and Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño as vice-chair.
“Both Shawn and Bishop Minerva are attuned to the challenges and opportunities to improve the health and well-being of diverse, underserved communities” Robert K. Ross, M.D., president and CEO of The California Endowment said, in making the announcement.
“We are very fortunate to have these two compassionate and accomplished individuals to help lead us as we move forward in our effort to achieve racial equity in health in California.”
The California Endowment was established in 1996 to expand access to affordable, quality health care for underserved individuals and communities, and to promote fundamental improvements in the health status of all Californians. Headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, The Endowment has regional offices in Sacramento, Oakland, Fresno, and San Diego.
