Pacific School of Religion will lead an immersion experience at the 2019 Special Session of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church in February. In addition to PSR students, interested lay and clergy members of the California-Nevada Annual Conference are welcome to attend the class in St. Louis.
The class will include pre-conference meetings that will address the history of the denomination’s position on human sexuality and the ordination of LGBTQI+ clergy (February 8 and 15), participation and related activities during General Conference (February 23-27), and a post-conference gathering (date TBD). Registered participants in the immersion class are eligible to receive 4.0 CEUs.
Spots are limited, so click on the link to answer a brief questionnaire about your interest in joining the immersion experience, if you’d like to be considered for participation. Once approved, participants will be responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging. For more information contact Dr. Filipe Maia, Assistant Professor of United Methodist Studies, Leadership, and Theology at PSR, at firstname.lastname@example.org

PSR also is coordinating, in collaboration with various alums, an affirming pastoral presence in the midst of the special convention, to provide pastoral care, prayer, and safe space for those in attendance and those affected by whatever decisions are made. If you have plans to attend, have training and experience in pastoral ministry, and are looking for an opportunity to serve, please email email@example.com.
