Advent Happenings at Fair Oaks UMC

December 09, 2020

Fair Oaks United Methodist Church is connecting with each other this Advent season with a weekly socially distanced, drive-thru communion service on Wednesdays at 2 pm.

Pastor Kim Montenegro meets cars in the parking lot and serves individual prepackaged communion wafer/juice cups to congregants through their car windows.

Advent in a Bag is also available for pick up at the drive-thru communion. Included in the Advent in a Bag are 5 electric tea light candles to create an Advent wreath at home. Participants can "light" their home Advent wreath while watching the Sanctuary Advent wreath being lit during the Sunday worship video on YouTube.

A mask and a Prayer for Putting on a Mask are also part of the Advent in a Bag. The prayer reminds us that wearing a mask can be "an outward sign of an inward grace."

These are just a few ways that we can connect with those around us and continue our spiritual journey this Advent season.
