Pacific School of Religion (PSR) will host a Service of Commissioning, Word and Table on Friday, Feb. 15, on behalf of those planning to attend the upcoming special called General Conference of The United Methodist Church in St. Louis.
The service will take place in PSR’s Chapel of the Great Commission, beginning at noon.
Pacific School of Religion is the oldest Protestant seminary on the West Coast and a longtime trainer of UMC leaders. Clergy, lay leaders, alums, and supporters of full inclusion in the life of the Church are invited to attend the special service. Welcoming and reconciling congregations are encouraged to bring church banners to process in the service.
Prayers will be offered for the Church and all of God’s people. In place of a sermon, Professor Filipe Maia, Assistant Professor of United Methodist Studies, Leadership, and Theology will facilitate a discussion with UMC students and alumni/ae, reflecting together on the Beatitudes in preparation for the special session of General Conference Feb. 23-26.
