Five years ago this Saturday, a white supremacist opened fire inside a Sikh gurdwara in Oak Creek, WI, taking the lives of six people. Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño says, "As Christians, we are called to love all God’s children and grieve when one suffers. The memory of Oak Creek reminds us that our work of building God’s beloved community is not yet done. May we join others in remembering Oak Creek, and may our remembering stir our hearts to loving our neighbor, truly loving with the very love of Christ Jesus." She is calling upon the California-Nevada Conference to stand in solidarity on social media with others across the nation and #RememberOakCreek this Saturday, August 5. Here are three ways persons are being asked to show solidarity this weekend: on Friday, attend a Twitter Town Hall at 11 a.m. (ET) click here
; on Saturday watch and share the short film to Remember Oak Creek
; and on Sunday, attend services at a local Sikh gurdwara.
