Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño, resident bishop of the California-Nevada Annual Conference, has assigned recently retired Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr.
as the senior interim pastor of Glide Memorial United Methodist Church in San Francisco.
“There is no better person to lead Glide as its Interim Senior Pastor in this time of transition than Bishop Warner H. Brown Jr. He knows and loves Glide and truly values the transformative ministry that Glide has been devoted to over these many years. Bishop Brown and Glide share the common hope of and commitment to all God's children being included in the circle of God's abundant love. He will be an important and wise partner as we discern whom God is calling as Glide's next senior pastor,” says Bishop Carcaño.
Bishop Brown follows recently elected Bishop Karen Oliveto who served as the senior pastor for eight years. Bishop Oliveto now serves the Mountain Sky area. Bishop Brown began today.
Glide is the largest United Methodist Church in the Western Jurisdiction and the largest in the California-Nevada Conference. It is also one of the 100 largest in the denomination.
