Missionary Jim Perdue to Speak at Missionary Luncheon & UMW Breakfast

May 17, 2018

Missionary Jim Perdue will be the principal speaker at this year’s Friday Mission Lunch and Saturday United Methodist Women (UMW) Breakfast at annual conference.  He works with the UMC Global Migration Team on justice and humanitarian issues facing Central American refugees.  Online lunch registration is now open.
Both the noon Friday lunch ($18) and 7 a.m. Saturday breakfast ($23) will be at Greens Market, 953 10th Street, a block from the Modesto DoubleTree where annual conference will be held.  While lunch registration is online (deadline June 17), for the UMW breakfast a check should be mailed to Sally Wenzel, 258 Beegum Way, San Jose 95123 (deadline June 19).
“Our collective support of United Methodist missionaries like Jim is a way we participate in extending the conference ministries of compassion and advocacy beyond Northern California and Nevada,” said Howard Parker, the Conference Secretary of Global Ministries.
The Mission Lunch is co-sponsored by the Conference Mission Service Committee, Advocacy and Justice Committee, and Immigration Task Force.  The lunch continues the tradition of social action meal events historically sponsored by the Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA).
