On October 4, Chinese Community United Methodist Church in Oakland will celebrate 10 years of support for Kumi Christian Visionary School, the primary school built in the village of Kumi, Uganda through a unique partnership with a Christian NGO. To mark the occasion and advance this ministry, the church invites everyone to experience a delectable eight-course Chinese banquet and hear stories of:
- how this grass-roots mission began;
- the building process;
- navigating the "unpaved roads” of running a school; and
- the new vision of a scholarship program for exemplary students.
You’ll also be able to find out how you can participate in a future Volunteers in Mission (VIM) trip and partner with this mission. And event organizers promise to share “something new” and “beyond visionary” during the banquet!
The fundraiser will take place Friday, Oct. 4 at Peony Seafood Restaurant, 388 9th Street (in the Renaissance Plaza), Oakland, CA 94607. Doors open at 5 p.m.
