Homeless Persons' Interfaith Memorial Service

December 21, 2017

Rev. Andrew Bear (ATEM) is organizing the fourth annual Homeless Persons' Interfaith Memorial Service. Held on the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, the Homeless Persons' Interfaith Memorial service will feature leaders from Silicon Valley's diverse religious traditions (Buddhist, Jain, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Wiccan, Jewish, Unitarian Universalist, Protestant and Catholic). They will share prayers, readings, songs, and chants, and read the names of persons who died without a home in their community this past year. Members of the homeless community will be invited to offer their reflections. This event is sponsored by the Silicon Valley Interreligious Council (SiVIC) and will take place on Thursday, December 21, at 11 am outdoors in front of San Jose City Hall, 200 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose. Afterwards there will be a lunch and distribution of sleeping bags, blankets, and tarps. In case of rain, the memorial will be held at San Jose First United Methodist Church. Contact Andrew Bear for more information: 1andrewbear@gmail.com
