March 2023 Mission Connection Newsletter and Mission Program

Dear Friends in  Faith,

Greetings on behalf of your Conference Committee on Mission Service!
March 19th is UMCOR Sunday, an opportunity to celebrate and support the missions and outreach of the United Methodist Church.  This special offering is how UMCOR funds their core operations.  That way, when we give to a specific need, such as the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, 100% of a designated donation goes directly to that need.
Acknowledging the impact UMCOR has, California-Nevada Conference churches donated $628,000 to UMCOR in 2022.  All of this went directly to US and International programs.  What an amazing commitment to the difference UMCOR has in our world!  For more about UMCOR click HERE.
We recently held a webinar on building partnerships between missionaries and local churches.  Here is the link to an article about the webinar and how your church might get involved: California-Nevada Conference of The UMC | Building partnerships between missionaries and the local church (  For more information, Fel Cao at
And lastly, have you considered participating in mission service in 2023?  The attached March issue of The Mission Connection, the newsletter of our Conference United Methodist Volunteers in Mission Program, highlights a variety of trips and projects already underway or planned for this year.  Maybe one will spur an idea of your own.  This month's newsletter can be found here: March Newsletter.

We share Conference missions and outreach opportunities each month.  If you have a mission story you want to highlight, just send an article and photos to me, Justin at or to Jessie Conklin at
