Vivien Bruner

10/17/2019

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Vivien Bruner, spouse of Rev. Richard Bruner, died on Thursday, October 17, 2019.

Vivien was a faithful companion journeying with her husband through ministry in the Western Ohio, Oregon-Idaho, Alaska, Northern Indiana, and Southern Indiana conferences and as he transferred into the California-Nevada Conference in 1979. In our conference he served the Burlingame UMC (associate) and then as associate director of the Conference Council on Ministry before retiring in 1992.

Vivien was a registered nurse for 45 years and was able to joyfully serve through her profession in every community where Richard was appointed. She is fondly remembered by friends and family as being a very kind, caring, and warm person and a marvelous mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Wesley Bruner of Houston, TX, Mark Bruner of St. Louis, MO, Rachel Bruner of Sacramento, CA, Rebecca Bruner of Apple Valley, CA, and Amanda Bruner of Hesperia, CA; and by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Condolences may be sent to the family at 18110 Fairburn Street, Hesperia, CA 92345.

Memorial service arrangements will be finalized and shared as soon as family members who live abroad can secure their means of travel.

Gifts in memory of Vivien may be sent to The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Advance GCFA, PO Box 9068, New York, NY 10087-9068 or online at https://www.umcor.org/.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Vivien’s life and witness and hold her family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
