Rev. William Stegall


Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. William “Bill” Stegall, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.  
Bill transferred to the California-Nevada Conference from the NE Ohio Conference in 1963. He served Stockton, St. Peters UMC; Oakland, Shattuck Avenue UMC; Fresno, Sierra Vista UMC; Redding, First UMC; and as Superintendent of the Nevada-Sierra District from 1986 to 1992. He retired in 2004.
Bill was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on June 8, 1937. Bill enjoyed spending time hiking in mountains and forests. Bill, and his wife Mary, were blessed to own forested property for several years which allowed him to be in the woods and care for the trees. Bill was an avid a walker and enjoyed expressing himself through the art of stained glass.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Leas Stegall, and by his two step-sons Joaquin Banuelos of Clovis CA and Nathaniel Banuelos of La Mesa CA, and by 5 grandchildren.
