Rev. Thomas Chun-Nan Tai

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Thomas Chun-Nan Tai, died on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
Thomas began his ministry in the Presbyterian Church of Formosa. His orders were recognized by the California Nevada Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1975.  He was appointed beyond the local church to serve as a Formosan Indigenous Community Developer of the Formosan Church in Oakland. He then served as pastor of the Formosan Church in San Leandro.  He finished his active ministry as President of the Methodist Graduate School of Theology, Taiwan. He retired in 2015.
His family shares that he enjoyed music, laughter and making a positive impact in his community.  He also cherished the art of making and serving tea.  Thomas had a vast collection of teas and teapots and enjoyed sharing meals with friends and loved conversation.  His patient and understanding nature made him an excellent father, teacher, counselor, confidante and friend. His passion was for education, his profession and his faith in Christ.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Su-Hui Tai of Taiwan, and by his daughters Rebecca Tai of Lynnwood, WA and Daphne Tai of Union City, CA, and by 4 Grandchildren.  Condolences may be sent to his family at 6726 178th Place South West, Lynnwood, WA  98037.
Memorial services were held in Taipei and Tainan in Taiwan.
Donations in honor of Rev. Tai may be given to The Tainan Theological College and Seminary, No. 117, Section 1, Dongmen Road, East District, Tainan City, Taiwan 701.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Thomas’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
