Rev. Saia Fa’asisila

9/26/2020

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Local Pastor Rev. Saia Fa’asisila, died on Saturday, September 26, 2020.

Saia served the following United Methodist churches in the state of California: Hillsdale San Mateo, Shoreview San Mateo, Martinez and St. Andrews Palo Alto churches.

Brother Saia was a loving father and doting husband.  He loved to sing and dance and delighted in teaching his children to sing Tongan music at a very young age.  He had a gift of listening and exemplified grace in every way.  His friends knew him to be loyal, wise and funny, always having their back.  Saia was a gifted mentor to many young Tongans coming into ministry.

He is survived by his wife Soana Fa’asisila, and by his daughters Raelina Aupito, Rosanna Tameifuna and Meleane Mapa, and by his nephew Ponove Veimau whom he raised as a son since birth, and by 15 grandchildren “with one on the way.” Condolences may be sent to Soana Fa’asisila at 360 Tioga Court, Palo Alto, CA  94306.

A memorial service will be held virtually on Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 10am-Noon.  Everyone is welcome to join using the following link:  https://us04web.zoom.us/j/74695308892?pwd=bjJSR3NhTUp1bW5HUzMvUXRhazUydz09

Gifts in memory of Saia may be sent to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 4111 Alma Street, Palo Alto, CA  94306.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Saia’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)

Blessings,

Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño
