Rev. Roy Erford

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Roy Erford, died on Thursday, September 17, 2020.

Roy began his ministry as an Evangelical United Brethren pastor in the Pacific Northwest Conference. He then served in the Oregon-Idaho Conference, and after a leave of absence, came to serve in the California-Nevada Conference in 1966. In our conference, he served at W. Lake and St. Francis churches in San Francisco, California before retiring in 1989.

Brother Roy had a passion for working with electronics as a hobby. He enjoyed gadgets and had “wires all over the house”. He even built his own TV set. Roy was an avid reader and had a very sharp mind. He and Betty travelled all over the world, which he also loved.  Roy touched the lives of many with his good humor and love for the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Erford, and by his children Susan O’Haro, Mary Awa, Jean Haynes and Nancy Augustini, and by 5 grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren. Condolences may be sent to Betty Erford at 4222 Donald Drive, Olivehurst, CA  95961.

Gifts in memory of Roy may be sent to the United Methodist Committee on Relief, UMCOR, Advance GCFA, PO Box 9068, New York, New York 10087-9068.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Roy’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
