Rev. Robert Johansson

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
 
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Robert Johansson, died on December 15, 2021.  
 
Robert began his ministry in the New York Conference. He went on to serve in the Methodist Church of Chile for 25 years as a missionary. He began his ministry in the California-Nevada Conference in 1979, and formally transferred his membership in 1982. Robert served the following congregations in California: Morgan Hill UMC; Lodi, First UMC; Fresno, Grace UMC; and Riverdale UMC. He retired in 1993.
 
Robert was born in New York City on August 22, 1922. He maintained a lifelong passion for airplanes. As a child he flew model airplanes as a hobby. In the military he served as an aeronautical engineer, working to repair and maintain aircraft. Eventually, he went on to earn his pilot’s license. Spending time with his grandchildren was his other favorite pastime.
 
Robert is survived by his children, Roberto Johansson of San Francisco CA, Beth Washburn of Lodi CA, Bill Johansson of Stockton CA, by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2013 and his son Richard in 1985. Condolences may be sent to Beth Washburn at 1557 Jasmine Way, Lodi CA  95242.
 
A memorial service will be held on Jan 22, 2022 at 2 pm at Valley Bible Church, 10545 N Davis Rd, Stockton Ca 95209. Memorial donations can be made in Robert's name to the United Methodist Committee on Relief. 
 
Let us continue to give God thanks for Robert’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
