Rev. Rejean Idzerda

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
 
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that retired local pastor Rev. Rejean Idzerda died on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Rajean was very active throughout her life in fighting for both civil and welfare rights and founded the first inter-racial, inter-faith national women’s sorority during her years at Baldwin-Wallace College.  In her retirement she remained active with family, church, AAUW, Sonoma League for Historic Preservation, docent at the Toscano Hotel (a historic building in Sonoma) and in her community of Temelec. 

Rejean served the Boyes, Hot Springs and St Paul’s, South San Francisco churches before retiring in 1995.

She is survived by four children: Rejean Idzerda of Seattle, WA, William Idzerda of Richmond, CA, Hendrik Idzerda of Fairfax, CA, and Chris Idzerda of Point Richmond, CA ; by four grandchildren; by three step-grandchildren; and by two great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband William and her son Mark. Condolences may be sent to her daughter Rejean Idzerda at 222 Temelec Circle, Sonoma, CA  95476.

A memorial service will be held on March 26, 2017, at 2pm at Sonoma United Methodist Church, 109 Patten Street, Sonoma, CA   95476. Rev. Matthew Pearson will preside.

Memorial gifts may be sent in Rejean’s name to benefit the Homeless Ministries or the United Methodist Women at Sonoma UMC.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Rejean’s life and witness and hold the Idzerda family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
