Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that we have recently become aware of the death of both Rev. Lloyd William Corzine, who died on October 31, 2020, and his spouse and our sister, Virginia Lee Corzine who died on February 6, 2020. They were married for 71 years.
Together Lloyd and Virginia served Christ our Lord through a long appointment journey that Lloyd responded to with Virginia’s full support. Their partnership in ministry began in the Wisconsin Conference. They moved in 1961, and joined what is today the California-Nevada Conference, where Lloyd was appointed to serve at the Sacramento Wesley Foundation and other campus ministries. Following this service in campus ministry they moved to Nashville, Tennessee so that Lloyd could serve an appointment to the United Methodist Board of Higher Education. Subsequently Lloyd worked as a fundraiser for the Coro Foundation for post-graduate education. He went on to attend school to attain his doctorate in Leadership and Human Behavior. Following this Lloyd became a Marriage, Family and Child counselor, specializing in alcoholism and drug counseling both in private practice and then while working for Kaiser Permanente. Lloyd retired in 1988.
Virginia was a school teacher and a real estate agent. She excelled in needle arts such as knitting, sewing, and making baby blankets for the Linus Project. Virginia traveled the world with her family, visiting Cuba, Nicaragua, Europe and India. Her support of Lloyd, and the variety of ways he sought to faithfully live out his call to ministry, was unwavering.
Lloyd and Virginia are survived by sons, John Corzine, Dale Corzine, Stan Corzine, and Scott Corzine, and by five grandchildren.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Lloyd and Virginia’s lives, and their witness, and hold their family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
