Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother Rev. Leonard C. Autajay died on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
Leonard served the Schurz Indian Mission; Anderson Valley; San Francisco: Wesley; San Francisco: Grace; San Francisco: Geneva Avenue; and San Mateo: Shoreview churches before retiring in 1996. Since a young age, his favorite pastime was fishing and when he responded to Jesus’ call to ministry he said God wanted him to “follow me and I will make you fish for people.” Leonard was known to be a planner. Following the death of his beloved wife, he planned his own memorial service, insisting on hymn singing and no sermon! His favorite hymn and theme for his ministry was “That Cause Can Neither Be Lost Nor Stayed.”
He is survived by his children: A. Ezra Autajay of Vallejo, CA, Aaron Autajay of Daly City, CA and Percy Autajay of Oakley, CA; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Leonard’s wife Abigail predeceased him on December 2, 2012, and his wife Fortunata predeceased him on February 23, 2015. Condolences may be sent to Ezra Autajay at 216 Ebbetts Pass Road, Vallejo, CA 94589.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Skyview Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo, CA 94591, with a memorial service at Fellowship United Methodist Church, 140 Ladera Drive, Vallejo, CA 94591 at 3:30 p.m. A reception will follow shortly afterward at the church.
Memorial gifts may be sent in Leonard’s name to Fellowship United Methodist Church, 140 Ladera Drive, Vallejo, CA 94591.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Leonard’s life and witness and to hold his family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
