Rev. Ivan J. Ball

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Ivan J. Ball, died on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
Ivan served the San Francisco: First (Associate), Freedom, San Mateo: Crystal Springs, Weldon and Highland Chapel, Kelseyville and Lakeport, San Francisco: Calvary, San Leandro: Faith, and Castro Valley churches, until retiring in 1993.
Rev. Ball is remembered as someone that used to be described as a polymath, a person who is knowledgeable to an expert degree in a variety of subjects, often unrelated to each other. Ivan was a biblical scholar, taught world religions, and was an ordained minister with a Doctorate in Theology.  Yet he was also very much a scientist, a mathematician, and a musician with an extensive knowledge of classical music and opera.  He was an avid traveler and had set foot on every continent including Antarctica.  He could discuss philosophy, religion, politics, music, and science with ease and was always reading and studying more about many subjects.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, and their two sons Eric Ball and Forrest Ball, each of Porterville CA, and by two Granddaughters.  Condolences may be sent to Ruth Ball at 18629 Avenue 168, Porterville, CA  93257.
A memorial service is planned for July 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Porterville, 135 E. Harrison Avenue, Porterville, CA  93257.
Memorial gift in honor of Ivan may be sent to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Porterville, 135 E. Harrison Avenue, Porterville, CA  93257
Let us continue to give God thanks for Ivan’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
