Rev. Glen Martin

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Glen Otis Martin, died on January 6, 2022. 
 
Glen served in the Minnesota and Holston Conferences before transferring to the California-Nevada Conference in 1968. Among us he served in a variety of appointments beyond the local church: United Christian Campus Minister, University of California Santa Cruz; Chairman, Division of Human Development and Dean of Students, St. Mary’s College; as Academic Dean,  Bethel College, and as a Professor at Bethel College. He retired in 1986.

Glen was born on June 7, 1924 in Joplin, Missouri. He was an avid swimmer, swimming half a mile daily for over 30 years.

Glen is survived by his children, Nancy Martin of Portland OR, Thomas Martin of Chattanooga TN, and Susanne Martin Herz of Oakland CA, by 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret, and by his son Henry Martin, and by one grandchild.  

A memorial service will be private.
 
Let us continue to give God thanks for Glen’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
