Rev. Gerald Summers

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
 
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Gerald Summers, died on December 1, 2022.
 
Gerald began his ministry in the former Southern California-Arizona Conference and transferred to the California-Nevada Conference in 1969. In our Conference he served the Quincy, Community; Paradise UMC; Montague UMC; Yreka UMC; and Marysville, First congregations. He retired in 1993.
Gerald was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where his parents were Methodist missionaries. He grew up in Southeast Asia, living in Borneo until age 9 and then went to junior and senior high school in India. He loved playing the violin, travel, and volunteering at his church.
 
Gerald is survived by his children, David Summers of Sun City AZ, Doug Summers of Chico CA, and Sally Summers of Chico CA, by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Georgie on March 31, 2022. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2022 at 1:00 pm., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 285 E. 5^th Street, Chico, CA  95928.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Gerald’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
