Rev. Dr. Thomas P. Grissom, Jr.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Dr. Thomas P. Grissom, Jr., died on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
Tom served in the North Georgia & New York Conferences before transferring to the California-Nevada in 1965.  He served among us at Taylor Memorial UMC in Oakland, as District Superintendent of the San Jose District and at First UMC, Sacramento. In 1980, Rev. Dr. Grissom then returned to New York where he served churches in Manhattan and Brooklyn until his retirement in 1998.
Tom was the son of a Methodist minister, born in the Bronx, before moving to Georgia.  He was raised and nurtured in the church.  He received his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Gammon Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA.  He married the love of his life, Gwendolyn Ball in 1955.  In retirement he could be found at his local church sitting beside her every Sunday until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn. Their only son, Terry, preceded him in death in 2005. Condolences may be sent to Mrs. Gwendolyn Grissom, 800 Concourse Village West, #24D, Bronx, NY 10451.
A memorial service will be held at a time yet to be determined.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Tom’s life and witness and hold Gwendolyn close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
