Rev. Adolfo H. Valencia

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Adolfo H. Valencia, died on Monday, April 6, 2020.
Rev. Valencia was received into our conference in 1980 by transfer from the Methodist Church of Mexico. He served  La Trinidad UMC in San Jose, and  Selma San Pablo UMC before retiring in 1997.  After retirement he moved to San Antonio, TX to be closer to his daughter Aurora Virginia.  There he was embraced by the Hispanic United Methodist pastors and congregations.  He died surrounded by their care and prayers.
Rev. Valencia took great pleasure in spending time with his family and enjoyed playing the piano. He treasured Christian community and throughout his life nurtured a relationship with a family of faith that crossed borders.
He is survived by his seven children: Adolfo Valencia Urquizo (Los Angeles, CA), Aurora Virginia Valencia Urquizo (San Antonio, TX), Norma Valencia Urquizo (Monterrey, N. L. Mexico), Mirna Elvira Valencia Urquizo (Santa Catarina, N. L. Mexico), and, Dalia Sara Valencia Urquizo, Febe Susana Valencia Urquizo and Fanny Ruth Valencia Urquizo  (all from San Nicolas de los Garza, N. L. Mexico), and by his 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hermelinda Castañeda on December 3, 2013, and by his former wife Norma Urquizo Hernandez.
Condolences may be sent to his daughter Fanny Ruth at
A date for a memorial service has yet to be determined.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Rev. Adolfo H. Valencia’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
