Pastor Victor McLane
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Pastor Victor McLane, retired local pastor, died on July 10, 2019.
Victor served the Carlin, Five Points, Calwa, Fresno, and St. Mark’s Fresno churches before retiring in 1987.
Victor was passionate about social justice issues and was a strong advocate for immigration work. Throughout his life he was always active in music, playing trumpet and string bass and singing tenor. In retirement, he returned to his passions of teaching music and carpentry work. He and his wife, Marcia, served as hosts of Casa de los Amigos, a hostel run by the Mexican Quaker community in Mexico City, and supervised the construction of homes through Habitat for Humanity in Nicaragua.
Victor was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marcia Mary La Grave. He is survived by his five children: Timothy McLane of Elk Grove, Josh McLane of Fresno, Margaret McLane de Jovel of Fresno, Michael McLane of Merced, and Heather McLane Marques of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil; and by 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at Wesley United Methodist Church in Fresno, California on September 28, 2019 at 11 a.m.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Victor’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
