Mary L. Hull Lewis

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Mary L. Hull Lewis, surviving spouse of Rev. Arnold Raymond Lewis, died on Sunday, January 15, 2017. In the church where her husband served, Mary was a member of the choir and even as the choir aged and she aged, she remained a linchpin in that body of praise.  Mary was a faithful companion in ministry to her spouse even after he retired and could no longer hear. After he ceased going to church, she continued to be faithful in her attendance and in her prayerful presence.  

She is survived by two children, David Herburger, of Galt, CA Elizabeth Swartz, of San Jose, CA, and a step-son, Luther Lewis, of Sacramento, CA; by 5 grandchildren; and by 2 great grandchildren.  Rev. Arnold Lewis died in 2012. Condolences (cards only, no flowers, please) may be sent in care of David Herburger, at 8924 Second Avenue, Elk Grove, CA  95624.

A memorial service will be held on Friday February 10, 2017, time and place to be determined.

Mary and Arnold served the Galt church before Arnold retired in 1986.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Mary’s life and witness and hold the Lewis family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
