Lois Clazie

8/16/2020

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Lois Clazie, spouse of Rev. Robert Clazie, died on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

Lois was a faithful companion as her husband served the following United Methodist churches in the state of California:  Redwood Highway Mobile Ministry, Courtland, Eureka, St. Luke’s in Richmond, First San Mateo, St. Paul’s in South San Francisco, Central in Sacramento, St. Stephen’s in Oakland, Wesley in Palo Alto, Rockridge in Oakland, Clearlake Community, and Lincoln, until retiring in 1992.

In addition to being a dedicated partner in ministry with her spouse, Lois lived a life of service as a Registered Nurse.  She began her career as a general nurse but eventually found her passion working as an operating room nurse which she dedicated her life to for over 30 years.  Lois and Robert were married for 43 years, living their entire married life in Northern California until his passing in 2009.

Lois loved music and was impassioned with cultural causes which she actively supported.  In retirement, she remained active in the church and in United Nations related mission work.  In 2017, she made the decision to relocate to Oklahoma where she was grateful to live near her family and share the last 3 ½ years celebrating holidays and special occasions with them.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Robert Clazie, her brother, Philip Sr. and 2 sisters, Alice and Grace.  She is survived by her nephews John Hoover and Philip Hoover Jr., and by 4 great-nephews, and by 7 great-great nieces and nephews. Condolences may be sent to John Hoover at 923 Sunnybrook Court, Stillwater, OK  74075.

Gifts in memory of Lois may be sent to the Santa Rosa United Methodist Church, 1717 Yulupa Avenue, Santa Rosa CA  95405, or given to a United Methodist mission of your choice.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Lois’s life and witness and hold her family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)

Blessings,

Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño
