Lois Albright

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Lois Albright, spouse of Rev. John Albright, died on Thursday, August 6, 2020.  Lois and John had recently celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary.

Lois was a faithful companion as her husband began his ministry in the Kansas East Conference.  He transferred into the California-Nevada Conference in 1961, where he served the following United Methodist churches in the state of California:  the yoked charge of El Camino and Gerber, First Redding, Merced, Cambrian Park in San Jose, and First Fremont, until retiring in 1993.

In addition to being a dedicated partner in ministry with John, she was very active in the Women’s Society of Christian Service which later became the United Methodist Women, serving in nearly every office of the organization.  While serving as President of the Shasta District UMW, she was featured on the cover of Response Magazine, posing with the plane she flew to get to meetings in the furthest reaches of the district.  She was an avid reader and was part of the team of women who read and evaluated books to be selected for the UMW “Reading Program.”

Lois was very creative, including her gift of writing plays.  She is remembered for her one-woman play, “The Other Mary,” which she wrote and performed in worship services in many of the congregations in our Conference.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. John Albright of Sacramento CA, and by her children: Jean Daz of Neodesha Kansas, Elizabeth Kallquist of San Leandro CA, John Albright Jr. of Redding CA, Dr. Mary Sims of Winston MT, Rev. Janette Saavedra of Clovis CA, and by 4 grandchildren. Condolences may be sent to Rev. John Albright at 7775 18th Street, Sacramento, CA  95832.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, the family will be holding a private memorial service but ask for your prayers.

Gifts in memory of Lois may be given to a local United Methodist Church of your choosing, or to the United Methodist Women at: https://www.unitedmethodistwomen.org/

Let us continue to give God thanks for Lois’s life and witness and hold her family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
