Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. John Fugitt, died on July 27, 2022, and that his wife of over 71 years, Eva Fugitt, died on August 19, 2022.
John was born in Riverside CA. He loved reading and writing poetry. He wrote over a thousand poems himself and self-published many of them. He also dabbled in watercolors and enjoyed creating welcome banners at his place of residence.
Eva was born in North Hollywood CA. She was very active in local church life. She enjoyed teaching children about how to make a difference through the power of their actions. Eva was a published author and often used her book, “He Hit Me Back First!” in her lessons with children.
John served the Cone, Community UMC; Fresno, Sierra Vista UMC; Oakland, St. Stephens UMC; Sunnyvale, Trinity UMC; Orinda, St. Mark’s UMC; Fortuna UMC and Chester UMC. John retired in 1994.
John and Eva are survived by their children, David Fugitt of Ashland OR, and Kathleen Fugitt of San Francisco CA, and by 4 Grandchildren. They were predeceased by their son Douglas Fugitt in 2015.
Services in memory of John and Eva will be planned for a time after the pandemic.
Gifts in memory of John and Eva may be sent to Planned Parenthood at https://www.plannedparenthood.org/
Let us continue to give God thanks for John’s and Eva’s lives and witness and hold their family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
