Eldora Swedenburg

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Eldora Swedenburg, surviving spouse of Rev. Everett Swedenburg, died on Monday, December 2, 2019.

Eldora was a faithful companion as her husband began his ministry serving congregations of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Connecticut, Colorado, and Nebraska, and followed with him when he joined the United Methodist church in 1961.  Rev. Swedenburg served churches in the Northern California and Southern California-Arizona Conferences. In our conference he served the Turlock, Glide Memorial San Francisco, and Los Altos (as associate pastor) churches before retiring in 1981.

Eldora was a home maker, a minister’s wife, and a professional RN. She was also an exceptionally gifted quilter, making quilts for family members on special occasions such as births, graduations, and weddings. 

She is survived by her children, Paul Swedenburg of Germantown NY, Eunice Swedenburg -Letzing of Portland OR, and Jon Swedenburg of Albuquerque NM, and by 4 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren. Her husband Everett died in 2008. Condolences may be sent to the family at 141 Station Hill Road, Germantown, NY 12526.  

A memorial service was held on December 9, 2019, and there will be a family gathering this summer.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Eldora’s life and witness and hold her family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
