5/31/2018

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Earl L. Langguth, died on Thursday, May 31, 2018.

Earl served the Elverta, King’s Beach, Livingston, Dinuba: First and Dinuba: Palm, Grass Valley, Sacramento: Faith, Montclair, and Oakland: Laurel churches before retiring in 1997.

After discovering a call from God to the ministry, Rev. Langguth attended PSR where he received his Master of Divinity Degree (cum laude) and served for 47 years as a Pastor in the United Methodist Church.  Over his life, Earl enjoyed singing, photography, amateur radio, writing poetry, novels, and a fictionalized account of his conversion. The latter account was published in 2001, and he has since published three books of Christian poetry. A new novel is currently at the publishers.

Rev. Langguth is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Luan Boyle and his parents, Earl and Kathleen Langguth.  He is survived by his wife, Darlene L. Langguth, of Penn Valley, CA, and his son Robert Langguth, of Dayton, NV, by four Grandchildren and six Great-Grandchildren.  Condolences may be sent to Darlene Langguth at 13072 Lake Wildwood Drive, Penn Valley, CA  95946.

The Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 18, at 11:00 am at the Grass Valley United Methodist Church. Memorial Gifts in Earl’s name may be made to Grass Valley United Methodist Church, 236 South Church, Grass Valley, CA  95945.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Rev. Earl Langguth’s life and witness and hold his family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
