Carol Saylor

5/3/2020

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Carol Saylor, spouse of Rev. Ronald Saylor, died on Sunday, May 3, 2020.

Carol was a faithful companion to her husband as he served in Canada, in the California Pacific Conference, and then in the California Nevada Conference in which he was accepted by transfer in 1968.  Carol was a gift to the congregation of Durham, California where Ronald was appointed to serve, as well as in his appointment beyond the local church as a Family Counselor with the Superior Court of Sacramento for 28 years until retiring in 1995. Together they shared in 36 years of ministry and 57 years of marriage.

Carol is described as a “modern day Mozart.”  She was a talented keyboardist and played both the piano and organ for churches, funeral homes, and weddings.  She had a special talent for coordinating music with the message or sermon of the week.  Carol was also a composer and wrote a hymn published through the Hinshaw Publishing Company titled “Celebrate” that was used nationally as well as in England.  She was passionate about children, animals, and the work of the Church.

Carol is survived by her husband Ron of Sacramento CA, and by her children Todd Saylor of Chico CA, Tim Saylor of San Diego CA, and by 2 grandchildren.

Condolences may be sent to Rev. Ronald Saylor at 713 Dumbarton Circle, Sacramento, CA  95825.

A memorial service is yet to be determined.

Gifts in memory of Carol may be sent to Habitat for Humanity International, 121 Habitat Street Americus, GA 31709-3498, or to charities that support children or animals in need.

Let us continue to give God thanks for Carol’s life and witness and hold her family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)

Blessings,

Bishop Minerva G. Carcaño
