Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our sister, Ardith Callaway, spouse of Rev. Norman G. Callaway, died on Monday, November 18, 2019.
Ardith was a faithful companion as her husband served the Freedom, Alum Rock San Jose, Parkside St. Francis San Francisco, Wesley Bakersfield, Oroville, Asbury Livermore, First UMC Sunnyvale, St. Mark’s Sacramento, and Tice Valley Walnut Creek churches, until retiring in 1991.
Ardith enjoyed doing stitchery and loved classical music. She relished living near the Mondavi Center in Davis and attended many artistic productions there. It was in her nature to always look out to help others. Her family shared that her life motto could be found in a line from a favorite hymn of hers, Lead On O King Eternal: “…In deeds of love and mercy, the heavenly kingdom comes.”
She is survived by her husband, Norman, of Woodland, CA; and by her children, Carol Head of New London PA, Susan Ogawa of Sanger, CA, Stephen Callaway of Hillsboro, OR, and Ellen Cundiff of Sacramento, CA; by eight grandchildren; and by three great-grandchildren. Condolences may be sent to Norman Callaway at 135 Woodland Avenue, Box 69, Woodland, CA 95695.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at Woodland United Methodist Church, 620 North Street, Woodland, CA 95695.
Gifts in memory of Ardith may be sent to Heifer Project International, Habitat for Humanity, UMCOR, Woodland United Methodist Church, or Fourth and Hope in Woodland, CA.
Let us continue to give God thanks for Ardith’s life and witness and hold her family close in prayer. In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
