Rev. Dr. Andrew Durwood Foster

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
 
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our brother, Rev. Dr. Andrew Durwood Foster died on Saturday, May 20, 2017. 
 
He is survived by his daughter Catherine of Berkeley, CA and son Robyn of Kansas City, MO.
 
A memorial was held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Pacific School of Religion chapel.
 
Dr. Foster came to Pacific School of Religion as Associate Professor of Christian Theology in 1959, and was named Professor of Systematic Theology in 1964. He served as Dean from 1974 until 1979. Dr. Foster’s courses covered Tillich, Wesley, and Christian-Buddhist dialogue. He retired from PSR in 1992.  Durwood was known for his expansive vocabulary, love of travel and gift of mentoring.
 
Memorial gifts may be sent in Dr. Foster’s name to “Pacific School of Religion” and send to the Office for Institutional Advancement, 1798 Scenic Ave., Berkeley, CA 94709.
 
Let us continue to give God thanks for Durwood’s life and witness and hold the Foster family close in prayer.  In our living and in our dying, we belong to God! (Romans 14:8)
